The First Day of Spring 2014

Finally! I recently got this dark blue floral scarf from Charlotte Russe and it's just the most versatile spring accessory. I was so excited to use my peach cardigan again. I paired it with this thrift store found Ann Taylor top along with this beautiful bubble necklace from Francesca's boutique.

My 34th Week of Pregnancy

I found this great Ellie Tahari top, Ann Taylor cardigan and Banana Republic polkadot top last St. Patrick's Day from a local thrift store. the gold necklace is from my chic jet setter great aunt who is married to a former Singapore Airlines exec. The other metallic necklace is from an Anthropologie clearance sale.

Be Here Now a.k.a. Remember That You Are Now 8 Months Pregnant

This outfit was inspired by a metaphysical/spiritual book by Ram Dass to remind people to stay in the moment at all times. As a pregnant woman in my last trimester, I always have to remind myself to stay present because anxiety can easily take over. The blazer and tunic are both from Discovery, and the skinny belt is from Forever 21.

A Long Cold Winter:in February

Faux Fur and Chunky Knitted Scarves are perfect for bigger bumps. The last trimester is not the time for wearing small scarves. Both vests were from Windsor. They have really great affordable classic and trendy accessories.

Lavender tank and olive green cardigan: Discovery, Maroon printed top: Plato's Closet,  Black and white printed top: Target,  White colorful printed top: Plato's Closet,  Mustard cardigan: H&M,  Black and white ornate cardigan and light pink cardigan: Salvation Army

Last Valentine's Day Ideas

For Valentine's I didn't want to be so cliché. I chose to go feminine and floral with pink and purple. I used this hand me down pink long cardigan with this non-maternity wrap dress I got from Rag Stock a few years ago. The black pants are yoga pants, and I used a fitted black mini dress inside. The gray pants are Mimi Maternity from Goodwill. Wearing pants under a dress looks more proportional when you're bump is bigger. You don't want to look like a lollipop, plus it's warmer.

More Looks from February

Don't be afraid to make a statement with accessories and bright colors. Just because you're pregnant does not mean you have to always wear black and other dark colors. You're not in mourning!

February: My 7th Month of Pregnancy

Tunics and Turtlenecks

These are great combinations for the winter season, as long as you're not experiencing the "hot flash" phase yet. Tunics are great for camouflaging.

I used a gray turtleneck because I have dark hair. If you're blonde, then you can get away with a black turtleneck. The pink tunic was a surplus from Target's spring 2012 collection which I got from Salvation Army brand new. The other tunic is Eddie Bauer also from salvation Army. The size is bigger, I just folded the sleeves to hide this fact.

Holidays 2013

Holidays 2013 in Chicago was just brutal. This was one of the worst winters in Chicago's history. New Year's Eve was the worst. That didn't stop my ideas:

The blue and white cardigan is from Plato's Closet, the dress is from Discovery, and the leggings are from Forever 21

The green dress is from Discovery and the pendant is from Charlotte Russe

My 2nd Pregnancy So Far

It's been a year since I last made any postings. I've been focusing on my facebook page. Well, I have a lot of updating to do. In the end of summer 2013, I found out that I got pregnant again. I was hoping to be as active as my first pregnancy (dancing samba until I was 7 months pregnant). However, my plans were foiled when I got very sick in October. I had acute bronchitis and it took me a whole month to recover. That doesn't stop this frugal fashionista from being stylish. I had to gear my wardrobe again for some maternity creativity.

5 Months Pregnant December 2013

In early December I had to attend a bar mitzvah and I also attended my goddaughter's baptism earlier in October. I had to wear a dressy semiformal outfit for these daytime family events. It's best to wear a light colored item when most of the colors we wear in the fall and winter tend to be on the dark side. Dark and dark is too old fashioned and boring. The cardigan was a hand me down, the dress was from Forever 21 (which I got from Plato's Closet), The maternity Gap maternity pants were from Goodwill, the necklace was from A. Byer, and my faux suede shoes were from Forever 21.

WHY IT'S MATERNITY FRIENDLY:
The dress is fitted and the right length, and the necklace and cardigan served to elongate the silhouette. The chunky heeled oxfords were warm, comfy, and practical and added height

Here are 2 other outfits with the same cardigan and a fitted non maternity stretchy dress. The dress was from Discovery and the chenille vest was from Forever 21. The long necklace helps to elongate the look.

These were some casual Christmassy looks:

The gray and white graphic cardigan and silver disc necklace were from Burlington Coat Factory. The red tank top was from Discovery. I used my belly band to elongate the top. The black and white holiday print sweater was from Plato's Closet. I added the ornate gold and pearl necklace to add to the holiday theme. I wore these outfits for Christmas parties I attended.
